Department continues the established in the academic year 1952/1953 Chair of the Organization for Building Mechanization and whose name has been changed in the academic year 1955/1956 on the Organization and Technology Department of Public Works. In 1970 the Department became part of the Institute of Technology and the Department of Structural Engineering and Construction Technology Organization in Construction. In the years 1976-1983 its participation in the Inter-Organization and Management Institute, came out a two laboratories: Technology and Organization of Construction Economics and Organisation and Investment Process.
Organizer and the first director of the Department was Jan Zaus, and the next unit managers were: Bronislaw Śmigaj (1960-1961), Kazimierz Wandelt (1961-1964), Andrzej Stefanski (1966-1978), Professor. O. Kapliński (1983-2012). Dr. hab. Eng. J Pasławski is head of the Department of Construction Technology and Organization since 2012.
